Erica’s professionalism and enthusiasm are the driving force behind Paragon Accountants. She began her undergraduate education at University of California – Irvine where she studied international relations with a minor in conflict resolution and then went on to University of California – Los Angeles to study economics with a minor in accounting, where she received a bachelor’s degree in both.
She then pursued a master’s degree in accounting with an emphasis in taxation from San Diego State University and a MBA in finance from National University. Before forming Paragon Accounting Group in 2003, Erica held the CFO position for a non-profit in Los Angeles and was a senior tax accountant for an international import/export company in San Diego and Tijuana where she participated in decision making on all financial and tax issues and has worked and studied within and outside of the United States.
Erica has travelled extensively throughout the world and she believes it is her unique life experience and openness that have made it easy for her to work with and build a rapport with a variety of clients.
Eventually Erica would like to give back and share her broad education, practical, and world experience as a part-time professor at a local community college close to the area where she grew up in South San Diego.
A native San Diegan, Erica and her husband Dustin love the downtown San Diego lifestyle where they live with their chiweenie pup, Buddha.
Alexa is currently pursuing her Accounting degree at San Diego State University, and is preparing to sit for the CPA exam. She has an impressive resume, with knowledge of GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, FASB, GAAS, and her Tax Preparation (PTIN certification) 2014.
Alexa is originally from Bakersfield, California, and enjoys playing soccer and attending concerts in her spare time.
Kerrie as Paragon’s newest Staff Accountant, has over 20 plus years experience managing clients books and inventory control. Now that her children are grown, Kerrie is enjoying working at with Paragon Accountants where she is broadening her exposure to multiple industries.
Kerrie was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, but San Diego has now been her home for 18 years. Kerrie along with her husband, serve on the San Diego State University Parent’s Advisory Board in their continued interest in children education. In Kerrie’s spare time, she enjoys various hobbies, volunteering and SDSU basketball and football games.
As the Marketing and Social Media manager, Kaleena oversees company communications and also maintains Paragon Accountants’ social media presence.
An experienced and talented writer, Kaleena graduated with a BA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. As an undergrad, she served as the fiction editor for Transfer, the student-run magazine at SFSU.
Kaleena and her husband Aleks love living in downtown San Diego with their chihuahua Uzi and cat Mia.
Since starting at Paragon in 2013 as an intern Alison quickly mastered her knowledge of QuickBooks, standard monthly accounting functions and year-end closing procedures, which moved her up to staff accountant.
Now, as the client relations manager, she not only maintains her staff accounting duties, but ensures that our clients are always satisfied. As the first point of contact in our office, she manages scheduling appointments and daily office activity. Alison’s can-do attitude helps keep the office positive and flowing smoothly.
As a recent graduate from San Diego State University with degrees in Economics, she is planning to study for the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) Exam in efforts to manage the Financial Planning needs of our clients at Paragon.
In her free time, Alison likes to bake and cook for friends and family, and attend local concerts. Born in Los Angeles, she has called beautiful San Diego home since the age of six.
As a Staff Tax Accountant, Matthew manages Paragon’s monthly retainer clients and is responsible for preparing month end financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. He also helps in the preparation of tax returns and client tax related correspondence. Lastly, Matthew is responsible for managing the content shared on our social media outlets, in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
Matthew recently graduated with a B.S. in Accountancy from San Diego State University. He plans to sit for the CPA exam in fall of 2016. For the past year, Matthew has participated in the IRS VITA program where he helped prepare income tax returns for individuals, non-residents, and families.
When Matthew isn’t busy at the Paragon office, there is a good chance you’ll find him at the gym, in the library studying, or out for a run.
