Erica’s professionalism and enthusiasm are the driving force behind Paragon Accountants. She began her undergraduate education at University of California – Irvine where she studied international relations with a minor in conflict resolution and then went on to University of California – Los Angeles to study economics with a minor in accounting, where she received a bachelor’s degree in both.
She then pursued a master’s degree in accounting with an emphasis in taxation from San Diego State University and a MBA in finance from National University. Before forming Paragon Accounting Group in 2003, Erica held the CFO position for a non-profit in Los Angeles and was a senior tax accountant for an international import/export company in San Diego and Tijuana where she participated in decision making on all financial and tax issues and has worked and studied within and outside of the United States.
Erica has travelled extensively throughout the world and she believes it is her unique life experience and openness that have made it easy for her to work with and build a rapport with a variety of clients.
Eventually Erica would like to give back and share her broad education, practical, and world experience as a part-time professor at a local community college close to the area where she grew up in South San Diego.
A native San Diegan, Erica and her husband Dustin love the downtown San Diego lifestyle where they live with their chiweenie pup, Buddha.
Since starting at Paragon in 2013 as an intern, Alison quickly mastered her knowledge of QuickBooks, standard monthly accounting functions and year-end closing procedures, which moved her up to staff accountant.
Now, as the client relations manager and social media coordinator, she not only maintains her staff accounting duties, but ensures that our clients are always satisfied. In between those duties, she keeps our presence on all social media platforms up to date with new information. As the first point of contact in our office, Alison ensure that everyone who calls gets the star treatment they deserve with her friendly demeanor. Alison’s can-do attitude helps keep the office positive and flowing smoothly.
As a graduate from San Diego State University a degree in Economics, she is planning to study for the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) Exam in efforts to manage the Financial Planning needs of our clients at Paragon Accountants.
Born in Los Angeles, Alison has called San Diego home since the age of six. In her free time, Alison likes to bake and cook for friends and family, attend local concerts, and explore new places by traveling.
Recently relocating to San Diego, Nick fits right in with the Paragon Accountants team.
Being our newest staff accountant, he hit the ground running with his duties consisting of daily bank account monitoring, reconciling accounts on a monthly basis, and giving tax advise to existing and new clients.
His passion in accounting gives him that motivation to make sure that every person he comes in contact with is completely contented with our services. Nick also helps the social media team out by writing blog posts. His keen sense of understanding the material and making sure that the message is conveyed correctly, helps clients understand those complex tax laws.
In and outside the office, Nick studies for his Enrolled Agents (EA) license and hopes to soon move on to getting his CPA in the future. When he isn’t in the office or studying, Nick enjoys being outdoors on his days off, going on hikes and going out in North Park with friends.
As Paragon Accountant’s senior staff accountant, Kerrie has over 20 plus years’ experience managing client’s books and inventory control. Now that her children are grown, Kerrie is enjoying working at Paragon Accountants where she is broadening her exposure to multiple industries.
Kerrie was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, but San Diego has now been her home for 18 years. Kerrie, along with her husband, served on the San Diego State University Parent’s Advisory Board in their continued interest in their children’s education. In Kerrie’s spare time, she enjoys various hobbies, volunteering and SDSU basketball and football games.
Oliver works as one of the Staff Accountants here Paragon Accountants. Accompanying his standard Staff Accountant responsibilities, such as preparing month end financial reports, Oliver also assists in tax preparation throughout the year. In addition, Oliver is constantly researching federal and state laws that may affect tax and accounting, making sure Paragon’s clients have a full view and understanding of any new situations they come across. Lastly, Oliver assists in Paragon’s social media, marketing accounting to daily aspects of people’s lives.
Oliver is currently enrolled in the BMACC 4+1 program at San Diego State University, where he will soon graduate with his bachelor’s and master’s in Accountancy with a specialization in taxation. Upon graduation, Oliver plans to sit for the CPA exam.
Despite spending most of his childhood in the Bay Area and Hong Kong, Oliver has fallen in love with San Diego and has made it his new home. Outside the office, Oliver enjoys exploring the outdoors, whether it’s a hike through the mountains or a swim in the ocean. As well, adventure never fails him. He is exhilarated by travelling to new places and exploring different cultures. Really, Oliver looks forward to anything new; be it food, places, or people.
Meet one of the newest members of the Paragon Accountants team, Angelica Olivares! Transitioning from a career in the restaurant industry to office management, she is picking up all the office responsibilities quickly.
The high pace speed of the restaurant industry prepared Angelica to be able to handle multi-tasking while maintaining a positive demeanor. Prior to her restaurant career, Angelica attended SFSU where she received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. After living and working in San Francisco for 14 years, she recently relocated back to San Diego where she was born and raised. When she is not busy keeping Paragon’s office running smoothly, Angelica enjoys cooking, reading, and training Muay Thai.
